“Discover CPS” Bus Tours

Our bus tours are a unique approach to enjoying and experiencing the Chicago Public Schools, staff and neighborhood communities. Since their inception in 2002, the "Discover CPS" Tours have continually grown in popularity. The new and improved tours are enlightening, exciting 1-day and 3-day experiences that include teacher recruitment information sessions, school visits and more! The idea of the tour is to bring teacher candidates into various schools and neighborhoods, so they can get a general idea of what the CPS has to offer. The tours were created to enlighten teacher candidates about urban education and familiarize them with inner-city schools and neighborhoods. Guests, including those who may influence your employment decision, are welcome to register as well.

The "Discover CPS" Bus Tours often elicit many inquiries, so we have addressed the most frequently asked questions regarding the tours. We strongly encourage candidates to review the questions and answers before registering for a tour. Should you have additional questions, please feel free to email discovertours@cps.k12.il.us or contact the Recruitment & Workforce Planning unit for assistance.

Teacher Candidate Information Summits

Teacher candidate information summits provide candidates with an overview of the CPS hiring process, and assist candidates in learning how to secure a full-time teaching position. RWP representatives provide detailed information regarding the CPS compensation and benefits plan, as well as available resources and support, including mentoring and housing assistance.

Summits differ from sessions in that they are typically held in the evenings, during peak recruitment periods, in the winter and spring, at various locations across the city of Chicago. The highlight of the summits is the featured guest speakers, which include accomplished CPS administrators and educators. Summits are provided especially for our local university students here in Chicago, as these events allow RWP to provide a vast amount of information to interested candidates.
