Incentives for Completing the NBC Process Candidates may receive CPS lane credit and graduate course credit as they pursue certification through the CPS NBC Program. Successful candidates will earn 120 Continuing Professional Development Units (CPDUs) that may be applied toward their certificate renewal. The completion of the NBC process fulfills the requirements for moving from an Initial to a Standard Teaching Certification. Upon achievement of NBC, candidates will receive the Illinois Master Teaching/Counseling Certificate, the highest teaching credential available in Illinois. The Illinois Master Teaching/Counseling Certificate is valid for 10 years. Incentives for Achieving National Board Certification. The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) provides a $3,000 annual stipend for teachers who have achieved NBC for the 10 years of the Illinois Master Teacher Certificate - a total of $30,000. NBC Teachers must be teaching 50% or more of the academic year to be eligible for this stipend. Pensionable salary increase of $1,750 over the life of the contract for teachers who achieve NBC. NBC teachers who mentor for the NBC Program may also earn up to $5,000. |
