Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Pursue NBC?

Teachers who have participated in the NBC process have overwhelmingly stated that it is the most powerful professional development experience of their careers. NBC Teachers are making positive changes in classrooms, school districts and the larger education community. The recognition, visibility, new roles and growth of the numbers of NBCTs are affecting not only their classrooms, but also the culture of their schools.

Additionally, you will earn 120 CPDUs toward recertification. The completion of the NBC process fulfills the requirements for moving from an Initial to a Standard Teaching Certification. Our program provides lane placement credit and offers graduate credit. Upon achievement of National Board Certification, you will receive the Illinois Master Teaching Certificate, the highest teaching credential available in Illinois.
