Where will I live?

Where will I live?
All Teaching Residents and Interns will live in dormitory housing provided free of charge.

Will I have a roommate?
Yes. Teacher Residency and Internship Program Management will assign roommates. If you are accepted into the program and want to room with another student who was also accepted into the program, Teacher Residency and Internship Program Management will make every attempt to honor your request. Please note: Although Residents and Interns will be living in co-ed dormitories, Teaching Residency and Internship Program Management will not honor co-ed roommate requests.

Will CPS provide a meal plan?
Yes. The CPS Teaching Residency and Internship Program does include a one all-you-care-to-eat meal a day.

Will CPS cover my travel expenses to Chicago?
No. Teaching Residents and Interns will be responsible for their own transportation to Chicago. Teaching Residency and Internship Program Management will provide general driving directions from Chicago airports (O'Hare and Midway) and bus and train terminals the housing facility.

Can I bring my car to Chicago?
Yes. Teaching Residents and Interns can bring their cars to Chicago. However, Residents and Interns will be responsible for all parking costs.

What if I don't bring a car, how will I get to class?
Teaching Residents and Interns will be responsible for travel to and from their housing site and classroom. The CPS Teaching Residency and Intership Program will provide Residents and Interns with a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) pass that grant them free access to Chicago's public elevated train, subway, and bus systems. CPS Teaching Residency and Internship Program Management also will provide free bus transportation to some school sites.
