| Application/Eligibility FAQs
All candidates must fill out the online application form, submit their personal statement and upload a copy of their resume. Candidates are encouraged to apply early. The priority deadline is December 15, 2006. All candidates must apply online by February 28, 2007 for consideration. Click here for more application details. When candidates submit their online applications, they will receive an automatic electronic response. Candidates will receive notification of their application status within two weeks of submitting their online application via email. Only candidates who meet the eligibility requirements and whose applications are complete and submitted on time will be invited to interview. Interview Days will be conducted December 2006 through March 2007 in downtown Chicago. Within three weeks of their interview, all candidates will receive an email from CPS notifying them that they have been accepted, rejected or wait-listed. All final status notifications will be made by April 30, 2007. Recent graduates (December 2006-June 2007) are eligible to apply for the Teaching Internship. Candidates for the Teaching Internship must hold a Bachelors or Masters (conferred by August 1, 2007), have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, hold or be in process for an Illinois teaching certificate (or from a state with reciprocity with Illinois) by August 1, 2007, (please check for a list of states with reciprocity) have an endorsement in one of the following high-needs subject areas: math, science, physical education, world languages, bilingual education, and reading specialist. No. Summer Fellow and TRIP Alumni are encouraged to use their support networks and recruitment assistance to find placement in the district. If you were a Teaching Intern and you meet the eligibility for this year's Teaching Residency, you may apply to that program. Yes. If selected to join one of the CPS Teaching Residency and Internship Programs, admittance into the program will be contingent upon the successful passing of a tuberculosis test and physical. Yes. If selected to join one of the CPS Teaching Residency and Internship Programs, admittance into the program will be contingent upon the successful passing of a criminal background check conducted by Chicago Public Schools. |
