Recruitment Information Sessions

How do I RSVP to attend?

Candidates interested in attending an information session should contact Recruitment & Workforce Planning at infosessions@cps.k12.il.us to register and for additional information.

What should I expect at an information session?

Representatives from Recruitment & Workforce Planning will facilitate these sessions and provide an overview of Chicago Public Schools. Representatives will discuss the hiring process, as well as answer any questions candidates may have regarding employment. Resumes will also be collected at the conclusion of the sessions.

Who is eligible to participate in an information session?

Teacher Information Sessions are open to:
  1. Those who hold a valid Illinois teaching certificate, including Type 03/Elementary, Type 04/Early Childhood, Type 09/Secondary with an endorsement in a subject area, Type 10/Art/Special Education/Music/PE and Type 73/Guidance Counselor.
  2. Those who have or will complete an accredited education program inclusive of student-teaching, and have passed the three Illinois State exams.
  3. Individuals who have completed a CPS approved Alternative Certification Program.
  4. Out-of-state candidates who have completed an approved education program, done their student-teaching and possess reciprocal state teaching licenses/certificates. Out-of State candidates will be required to obtain the Provisional Illinois Teaching License to be eligible for CPS employment.
ESP Information Sessions are open to:
  1. Any candidates interested in school-based Educational Support Personnel (ESP) positions, and have a high school diploma/GED, 60 college credit hours, an associate’s degree, have passed the ParaPro or WorkKeys exam or hold a State of Illinois paraprofessional license.
Who does the actual hiring - Principals or the Department of Human Resources (HR)?

Chicago Public School principals are the hiring managers. They have complete autonomy to interview and select their school-based personnel. HR works collaboratively with the principals to pipeline and process qualified candidates into the organization.

Where are the information sessions held?

Teacher and ESP information sessions are held at Central Office, 125 South Clark Street, Chicago, Illinois 60603. Please check the information session calendar for the location within Central Office, as the room location often changes. Central Office is readily accessible by CTA bus or trains. Do I need to bring anything to the information session?

Candidates should bring a copy of their resume, as these will be collected at the end of the session. It is also recommended that candidates bring a list of any questions they may have for representatives.
