Notice for All Substitute Teacher Applicants

Effective Monday April 26, 2010, Chicago Public Schools Will No Longer Be Accepting Substitute Teaching Applications. Sorry For The Inconvenience.

Individuals interested in becoming a substitute teacher with the CPS with a degree in fields other than education, and who have not completed student teaching, must complete and successfully pass the SubAssessment, an online Substitute Teacher Training Program*, before initiating the application process for substitute teaching.

*About the SubAssessment Substitute Teacher Training Program

SubAssessment:

  • Is a web-based application, which must be completed online.
  • Requires a composite score of 85% to successfully pass the assessment.
  • Can be taken up to a maximum of 4 times.
  • Takes approximately 30-40 minutes to complete each section (5 sections in total).
